At Calendar, we’re dedicated to sourcing and roasting the highest quality coffee, in the most environmentally responsible way possible. Founded in 2018, our beans are seasonally sourced and roasted at our small roastery in Barna, Co. Galway. We specialise in lightly roasted coffee, highlighting unique flavours with drinkability, quality and consistency, one brew to the next.  
Calendar is independently owned and managed by its founders, Zarah Lawless and Daniel Boobier, who are committed to running an ethically and environmentally conscious business, where the health and wellbeing of our team is central to our success. 
Job purpose 
We’re looking for a Roastery Assistant to join our small team. This role is at the heart of our operations and an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and growing company. 
Employment: Full-time 
Hours: Monday - Friday, 35-45 hours per week
Remuneration: Living Wage, €12.30 per hour 
As a Roastery Assistant, you will be responsible for order fulfillment, dealing with customer queries, managing our subscription service and assisting the production team where required. Duties include:
  • Managing and fulfilling orders, and ensuring customers receive their coffee on time
  • Answering customer queries and providing excellent customer service
  • Organising logistics utilising our DHL/Shopify integrated software
  • Managing our subscription service and its administration
  • Labelling and packing bags
  • Preparing coffee for roasting, including handling coffee sacks, weighing coffee, and cleaning buckets
  • Assisting the production team during roasting when required and ensuring production protocols are adhered to
  • Maintaining a clean and organised roastery at all times
  • Other tasks as determined by the Head of Production and Head of Wholesale
The Candidate 
The ideal candidate is organised with strong computer skills, has a keen attention to detail, and is comfortable working under pressure. This role would suit someone who enjoys administrative tasks and customer service, but doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves and getting involved with the day to day running of a roastery. The ability to multitask and problem solve is essential.
  • Experience in the coffee industry is preferred but not essential. However, a passion for coffee is a must! 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including emails and spreadsheets. Experience with Shopify is a bonus.
