Altitude: 1,500-1,900 maslAs the seasons change, so does our TEAMWORK espresso, highlighting the very best single origin coffees throughout the year. We’re looking for coffees that are balanced and sweet, delicious in milk, and with enough complexity to be enjoyed straight up. This espresso comes from a group of farmers situated along the eastern cordillera of the Andes Mountain range in central Huila. The conditions here are perfect for producing quality coffee, and the dramatic landscape provides a multitude of microclimates, adding to the huge diversity of flavours you will find in the coffees from this region. This is the fourth year we have sourced our Teamwork Espresso from this community, and it continues to be a firm favourite amongst the team at the roastery.

As temperatures rise and extreme weather becomes more frequent, coffee farming is becoming increasingly difficult and less profitable for many producers across the globe. World Coffee Research is a non-profit organisation providing farmers with the tools, knowledge, and plants necessary to adapt in a changing climate. Together with our importing partners Caravela, we are donating €0.50 from every Kg of TEAMWORK Seasonal Espresso to support their work.

Our Teamwork Espresso is purchased through Caravela, who is both the importer and exporter for this coffee. Caravela purchased this community blend directly from 41 farmers in Gigante, Huila with upfront payments, then took on the responsibility for the dry milling, warehousing and all of the logistical services of getting this coffee to our roastery.
In an effort to improve how coffee is priced at origin, Caravela has created a figure called the Minimum Prosperity Price. This figure calculates the minimum farmgate price in each country which allows the average farmer to meet their cost of production, make a living wage and obtain a profit margin of at least 20%.
Each of the farmers who contributed to this lot received an initial payment based on the quality of coffee and daily market rate. In cases when this payment was less than the Colombian Prosperity Price of $3.00/lb, the producer received a second payment that made up the difference.
