Colombia is one of the few producing countries where coffee is harvested all year round, which is great news for us as it’s always possible to access fresh, delicious coffee throughout the year. The flavour profiles here are generally very complex, rich and fruit driven and can be used for everything from complex filter brews to rich, creamy espressos. This coffee is bursting with purple fruit and delicious sweet citrus notes, and we thought it was only right to keep the roast light, bright and sparkly to be enjoyed using any filter brew method.

This coffee is named after the producer Diocides García who owns the 4 hectare farm, Finca La Fortuna in the high altitudes of Tolima, Colombia. Made up of both Caturra and Castillo varieties, this lot is fully washed and dried on covered patios. Like most producing regions of Colombia, cherries are harvested here twice a year but the unpredictable nature of the weather makes it very challenging for production. At Finca La Fortuna, there’s potential for non-stop rain during harvest periods, which can have a huge affect on the maturation, fermentation and drying of the coffee. However, these growing conditions combined with good farm management can more than compensate for the challenging climate and results can be absolutely amazing!

We’ve always been a sucker for the more solid, creamy Colombian profiles but the sweet citrus and playful flavours found in this coffee really took us by surprise! With juicy blackberry notes and a bright, vibrant acidity, dare we say this coffee has a real Kenyan vibe to it. We’re delighted to finally share it with you!
