Dan and Zarah first met in 2015 at Workshop Coffee, London. Dan was Head Roaster and Zarah was the Front of House Manager at their flagship store. Both new to London and brought together through coffee, they quickly bonded over weird wines, Six Nations rugby and their love for good food. They recognised that they both shared the same principles for working hard, being good to others and creating something to be proud of. In November 2017, they relocated to Zarah’s hometown of Galway and began transforming an old computer repair shop into a coffee roastery.
Calendar was founded on the idea that a business can have a positive social and environmental impact, and what better way to do this than through delicious coffee! The freshness of the raw product is crucial to the quality of roasted coffee, yet harvest dates are rarely shared with customers. Noticing a lack of awareness of coffee as a seasonal product, they were determined to promote greater transparency in this area. Their mission is to get more people drinking fresh, seasonal coffee, in the most responsible way possible.
