Raisin & Black Tea
Harvest: August 2025
Country: Colombia
Producer: Alcidez Avendaño
Region: Gigante, Huila
Process: Washed
Variety: Caturra
Altitude: 1,900 - 2,100 masl
This coffee comes from a producer we were fortunate to meet during our trip to Colombia in 2023. The farm, Buena Vista, is located in the high altitudes of Gigante, Huila, where Alcidez Avendaño focuses almost exclusively on cultivating the Caturra variety.
Caturra is celebrated for its exceptional cup quality, but its susceptibility to leaf rust and other diseases makes it a risky choice for many coffee producers in the region. Alcidez, however, has remained committed to this variety, believing that the extra effort and risk are justified by the quality it can deliver.
Alcidez is a regular contributor to the Teamwork Espresso lots we source from Gigante, while also producing small, standout micro-lots like this one, which we roast separately. The prices we pay for Alcidez’s coffee are set by him, and since 2023 we've committed to purchasing all coffee he produces that score above 86 points.
Roasted for filter brewing, expect a rich and fruity cup with notes of raisin, black tea hazelnut and chocolate.

Alcidez depulps, washes and dries all of his coffee at his farm, Buena Vista. After processing, he delivers it as dried parchment to the exporter/importer Caravela. Caravela is then responsible for the dry milling, warehousing and logistical services of getting the coffee to our roastery. We've committed to purchasing all coffee produced at Finca Buena Vista that scores above 86 points. The farmgate prices for these lots are set by Alcidez.
