Juan Pablo Garcia is a first generation coffee producer who works and lives with his wife, son and his daughter-in-law. He gave his farm the name Mesté, which refers to the flatness of the plot and the hills that surround it. He started farming coffee in 1980, when the armed conflict that took place in Guatemala came to an end. Despite not having any experience cultivating coffee, he persevered and has been motivated to make it work ever since! Juan is currently 67 years old and he says that the biggest motivator in life is seeing his family happy. For the last two years he has been focused on improving the quality of the coffee and infrastructure on the farm, in the hope this will provide a better future for his children.

This lot is made up of 100% Caturra variety coffee and has been roasted for filter brewing. Expect a jammy and balanced cup with a morish dark chocolate finish - certainly one of the best Guatemalan coffees we've tasted this year!
